A friend of one the blog-daughters has been spouting of late
about how since Bernie has lost the nomination, it makes no sense to vote for
Hillary, blah-blah-blah. To this confused
soul and all of his ilk, Mr Tbogg has a few words.
Here’s the deal: your vote is worth… one vote – unless it’s
a two-way race and you vote for anyone else, and then your vote is worth
exactly… ZERO. If you honestly think there’s no
difference between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, it’s time to check your
meds. Otherwise vote for the better
candidate or the lesser of two evils. Elections
always have consequences. In my opinion,
a Trump presidency would be an extinction-level event (thank you Andrew Sullivan).
So, get in there and pull the handle for the lesser of two evils if you
have to, but don’t sit on the sidelines pouting by voting for some third-party
unicorn. Grow the fuck up.
Back in 2000 a bunch of people I knew were saying there’s no
difference between the candidates – there’s around 100,000 dead and 2 million
displaced Iraqis who might take issue with that idea. By my reckoning each of
the 97,488 people in Florida who voted for Ralph Nader owns roughly one dead
Iraqi and 200 refugees. Bite me.
Lastly, one of my buddies from work who voted for Bernie
Sanders in the primary says he’ll vote for Trump in the general, to “shake
Washington up”. I’m sorry, but sending
Donald Trump to shake up Washington is like voluntarily contracting colon
cancer to fix your piles. As a wise man
once said…
Grow the fuck up.
